It’s long been said that what Long Beach has been missing in its rebirth of becoming an epicenter for live music is a festival—one that is diverse in its genres and one that reflects Long Beach’s vast array of audiophiles and musical talent.

Enter Music Tastes Good, a three-day festival in DTLB that hopes to attract and draw the respect of fellow fests like FYF and Coachella (but with the distinct flavor of DTLB and a bit smaller in scale).

While organizers—which includes Live After 5 curator Joshua Fischel at the helm—project tens of thousands of attendees invading the Downtown in search of quality live jams, what proves to be true fresh off the festival’s lineup announcement is that acts like Iron & Wine, Warpaint, De La Soul and Sylvan Esso will join old-school talents like The Specials to headline. Other artists on the bill include Dr. Dog, Gallant, Deltron 3030, The Melvins, Living Colour, Twin Peaks, Las Cafeteras, RX Bandits, Metz, Kate Tempest, Nick Waterhouse, Cody Chesnutt and Girlpool.

Organizers haven’t shied away from local talent either, bringing on Dustin Lovelis, Rudy De Anda, Spare Parts For Broken Hearts, and more.

Music Tastes Good will run Sept. 23 through Sept. 25 and three-day passes will cost $120. A VIP option, which includes a meal, is $240. Day tickets will be sold as well, ranging from $25 to $75.
